They call it the way the OS is built. But i call them limitations, serious limitations that led to a heartbreak.
It was a few days ago when i was researching about the Windows Phone OS and loved it at first sight. It had the eye candy which Android lacked. But a deeper insight led to a resentment against the OS.
1. NO BLUETOOTH FILE TRANSFER
This brought a chilling sensation and scared me. I use the bluetooth file transfer almost daily as the primary way of transferring data. Windows Phone not having this feature or what i should call a necessity is quite amazing and frustrating.
2. NO FILE MANAGER
Well this one might not look so big a limitation but it really becomes frustrating when you want to manage your files or use your memory card as a storage device.
3. NO FILE TRANSFER BETWEEN PHONE AND PC WITHOUT ZUNE
Yes. If that's what you hated with the iTunes thing with iPhone, here it is with the Windows Phone. Without the Zune software, it is not possible to transfer pictures, music or anything else between phone and PC.
4. NO ARBITRARY FILE FORMATS CAN BE ATTACHED IN EMAIL
Except pictures and videos as well as office document formats, files such as pdf, zip, txt cannot be attached. That's frustrating again if one has to edit a pdf on the move and then send it again.
5. NO BATTERY METER
That's pretty stupid with this OS not having a battery meter. Only when you actually run low on battery, you get an icon flashing showing low battery.
6. NO WAY TO KILL APPS RUNNING IN BACKGROUND
This is a weird thing in this OS. I hated this one even on the PC and it continues in Windows Phone. Although they say that the OS efficiently manages resources and kills the apps if it is required. But i think we as the real users should have true control over the device and not the OS.
7. NO DRAFTS IN SMS
A small limitation but could be quite a big one for some who really need them. I seldom use them.
These are the few i am mentioning that i would as an average user feel to be a limitations that would spoil a smartphone experience. There are more and you can google them.
One thing that i feel is that out of the above mentioned limitations, some of them are synonymous to iOS. Is Microsoft trying to copy Apple. Well you are to decide.
So friends, now is not the time to buy a Windows Phone if the above limitations hurt you. You would definitely go for its eye candy but the above things are really frustrating for me. Maybe some of them are removed in the future releases. But according to what read on a forum, they are obstinate about not removing one or two. Well i would wait for a future release rather than buying at this time. Would you??
